**Raw Hair vs. Virgin Hair
Virgin hair is human hair that has not been chemically processed. This includes (perming, relaxer, or coloring) the hair. Steam processing is used to achieve a uniform curl pattern for kinky and deep wave textures. Raw hair is the highest quality of Virgin hair. Raw hair is 100% unprocessed (meaning no chemical or heat manipulation), and will not have a uniform curl pattern. No two bundles of raw hair will look the same as one bundle comes from a single donor.
Will hair extensions damage my hair?
Hair extensions will not damage your hair; however, you still need to care for your hair with the addition of hair extensions. We recommend daily care as you would with your natural hair as well as weekly maintanece. We also recommend that you thoroughly inspect your extensions every two to three weeks, both in order for you to enjoy your raw Indian hair as long as possible, but also to avoid tangled extensions and unnecessary wear on both the extensions and your natural hair.
What are the best products to use to care for my hair extensions?
To make sure your extensions maintain their health, it is important keep your extensions moisturized. Because hair extensions are not attached to a follicle they do not share the same natural oils as your natural hair. This makes the extensions even more dependent on added moisture and oils to keep from getting dry and coarse. A dry climate, like that of southern and western parts of The United States, also makes the hair drier, especially during the winter months. The two most important products for giving your natural hair and your extensions the care and moisture they need are shampoo and conditioner. A moisturizing shampoo cleanses the hair while adding moisture, and conditioner seals the hair strand. Using a hair mask 1-2 times a week is also a great way to give your hair that extra moisture boost. Although, hair masks are not a replacement for your conditioner. Always end with a conditioner.
How long will my hair extensions last?
We can guarantee that our extensions can last for 1-2 years depending on maintenance.
Your extensions will last longer if you are very attentive in regards to hair care. Please follow the included care instructions for your product(s). One great ritual is to try running a comb or brush through your hair once in the morning and once at night. When going to bed, we recommend braiding your hair to make sure it stays tangle-free. You should also do this when you exercise and when you think your hair may be affected by the weather. We also recommend that you check your sewn in extensions within 2-3 weeks of putting them in. By doing this, you can avoid the risk of too much new growth, which can cause the extension to damage your hair. Detangling your hair with your fingers or recommended brushes on a regular basis also reduces the risk of knots in your hair. The soft bristles of our recommended brushes are gentle and nourishing on your hair and extensions.
How to wash your hair extensions?
Treat this hair as if it were your own. Always brush and detangle hair extensions while dry before washing. Gently massage the shampoo into the extensions. Use a mild moisturizing shampoo without sulfate or phosphate. We strongly recommend shampoos infused with Moroccan oil. For the sake of the hair, please refrain from using silicone shampoos and other shampoos that contain aggressive detergents. Please choose conditioners that moisturize and hydrate the hair. While the hair is wet, detangle the hair slowly from ends to roots. Allow the hair to air dry straight down for maximized dryness. For curlier textures, a diffuser on low heat is safe to use for styling purposes. If installed for a sew in, wash your extensions at least once a week and/or every three days if you have oily hair.
How to dry your hair extensions?
NEVER BRUSH, COMB OR UNRAVEL WET HAIR. With a towel, gently pat dry your wet extensions. Then finger comb hair right under a hair dryer from top to bottom, then proceed to the styling with the brush when hair 80% dry.
How to brush or comb your hair extensions?
Brush gently from the bottom up. If you feel a tangle in the hair, gently separate extensions. Do not pass the brush or comb attachment points. Do not pull too hard when you feel resistance to brushing because the pressure can cause breakage in the hair extensions or worse pull at your natural hair, if hair extension resists. It is also important not to scratch too hard at the root so that you don’t break or damage your natural hair.
Can I be active with hair extensions?
You can participate in any sport or activity as long as you tie your hair extensions in a bun or braid in order to prevent the possible risk of tangling. For the following sports and activities, such as swimming, jogging, biking or boating, take note that chlorine or sea water is extremely dehydrating, but not forbidden for virgin hair extensions. So if you swim in the sea or pool, apply a hair oil or serum and do not forget to wash your extensions that same night.
